Smart glasses for HVAC technicians

Rooftop in August. Manifold gauges in one hand, a probe in the other, and the model number you need is stamped on a plate behind the condenser coil.

HVAC service is the clearest case for hands-free hardware in the trades. Diagnosis happens with both hands occupied, in plant rooms and on rooftops where a phone is awkward, filthy or a safety problem. R-Glass keeps the tech looking at the equipment.

What it does on the job

Four things your HVAC crew stops doing one-handed.

01

Capture the nameplate without climbing back down

Say the word and the camera reads the data plate — model, serial, refrigerant type, charge — straight onto the work order. No transcribing four-point font into a phone with gloves on.

02

Pull a senior tech into the callback

A junior tech on a rooftop unit can hand their field of view to the most experienced person in the company, who is standing in the shop. First-time fix goes up without a second truck roll.

03

Document the charge for compliance

Superheat and subcool readings, refrigerant added or recovered, timestamped and attached to the job. EPA 608 recordkeeping becomes a byproduct of doing the work.

04

Turn your best tech into the training material

Record a senior tech walking a full RTU changeout once. New hires watch the job from inside their predecessor’s field of view instead of reading a binder.

The hardware

One device, $349, no licence per seat.

The same RG-1 goes to every trade. What changes is the software configuration, which we set up for HVAC work before the units reach you.

HVAC questions

Answers before you ask for them.

Do the glasses work in a plant room with no signal?

Yes. Capture, voice notes and job documentation all work offline and sync when the glasses next reach Wi-Fi. Live remote support needs a connection, since it is a video call.

Can technicians wear them over prescription glasses?

The frame is designed to take prescription lenses rather than sit over an existing pair. Prescription fitting is part of what we work out during a pilot.

Are they safe on a commercial rooftop?

There is no display, so nothing occludes your vision — this is an audio-first device with a camera. That is a deliberate choice for exactly this kind of work.

Next step

Try it on one HVAC crew.

Two to five units, set up for HVAC work, on your real jobs for a month. No payment and no commitment — if it does not earn its place on the truck, tell us and we stop.
